Bio-T Test

If your ADAM test seems to suggest andropause, your doctor may decide to do further testing to determine that you actually have andropause, and not any other condition that may produce similar signs and symptoms. The best test to determine low testosterone levels is the Bio-T Test.

What is the Bio-T Test?

The Bio-T Test measures levels of "bioavailable testosterone", that is, testosterone that is available for the body to use on demand.

Starting as young as 40, testosterone production starts to decrease, and the production of a substance known as Sex binding Hormone Globulin (SHBG) starts to increase. SHBG makes testosterone unavailable for the body to use, effectively lowering "useable" levels even further. The measure of "useable" testosterone is called bioavailable testosterone, and it's the measure now recommended to evaluate andropause.

The Bio-T Test is not currently covered by all provincial and private health insurance plans, however your doctor may have information about special funding for this test in your province.
